In 2010, the European legislator made its intention clear in the following excerpt from Recital 10 of European Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes:
"This Directive represents an important step towards achieving the final goal of full replacement of procedures on live animals for scientific and educational purposes as soon as it is scientifically possible to do so".
It's up to us to ensure that this intention becomes reality, and that the final goal is reached as quickly as possible. This is Transcience's commitment.

Transcience brings together multi-disciplinary expertise.

Transcience is a body for reflection, proposals and action.

Transcience is a member of the Eurogroup for animals: Eurogroup for Animals

Transcience’s aim is to support the transition to non-animal research by supporting and promoting initiatives that could contribute to this, particularly in scientific and legal terms. It also ensures that regulations relating to protection of animals used for scientific purposes are rigorously applied.

If you have expertise that you would like to volunteer for the transition to non-animal research, please do not hesitate to contact us.

To share information on the use of animals for scientific purposes and alternative methods, and to offer food for thought,

To respond to the desire of many “non-specialist” citizens to gain a better understanding of this subject, and to give civil society players access to reliable, documented sources:

If you’re not a scientist but would like to know more about alternative methods

If you are a scientist looking for databases that list non-animal research methods

If you are a student or lawyer and need to know about the regulations governing the use of animals for scientific or educational purposes

If you’re a journalist preparing a program or writing an article on animal experimentation, and you’re looking for the facts and figures

If you are an entrepreneur wishing to develop a business using alternative methods and would like to know about the various forms of financial assistance you can apply for

If you are an association activist and would like to know which members of national parliaments are committed to the issue of animal experimentation
