Ecopa’s main objective is to promote the “three Rs” (replacement, reduction and refinement) in the use of animals in research, testing, education and training in Europe. Ecopa strives to reach a consensus between the four stakeholders in an attempt to achieve its objectives:
- Government and regulatory authorities
- Academia
- Industry
- Animal protection and welfare organisations
Ecopa supports the establishment of national consensus platforms that promote the three Rs and include representatives of the four stakeholders in their governance.
The French member organization is FRANCOPA.
